We support SB 277, legislation that would allow spirits-based ready-to-drink (RTD) products with low alcohol-by-volume (ABV) to be sold in the same places as beer and wine in California.
CALIFORNIANS FOR CONVENIENCE

Currently in California, grocery and convenience stores can sell beer and wine; however, these stores cannot sell any liquor-based RTDs, even if they have a lower ABV than beer and wine products, simply because they contain liquor. It doesn't make sense.
SB 277 would modernize California's liquor laws by allowing low ABV spirits-based RTDs to be sold in the same stores as beer and wine, increasing consumer convenience and supporting small businesses.
86 percent of adult consumers want to purchase spirits RTDs where they already buy beer and wine RTDs, according to a recent DISCUS survey.
"We're not asking to sell liquor. We're asking to sell RTD products that are consistent with what we're selling right now." - David Tooley, Tooley Oil
